臉皮厚其實是代表一種豁達開朗的性格，這樣的人不愛跟別人較真、對生活中的得失也想得開，所以更能保持比較平和的心態。反之，有些老人因為臉皮薄、怕羞，不敢穿新衣服、不敢學跳舞，到哪兒都怕因為說錯話做錯事而被人議論，以至於產生不必要的心理負擔，這些負面情緒，很容易使老人心情低落，從而影響身體內分泌的改變或造成生理紊亂，久而久之使身體抵抗力下降，影響免疫系統正常運行，壽命自然減少。
