外交部今晚表示，美國國務院亞太助理國務卿羅素於2月5日出席美國聯邦眾議院外交委員會亞太小組聽證會，就中國大陸劃設「東海防空識別區」及亞太區域海事情勢等議題作證。羅素說，台灣提出的「東海和平倡議」，符合美國的核心策略與努力，包含尊重國際法及以和平方式解決爭端。

外交部指出，中華民國政府再次呼籲周邊國家，參酌美方立場，正確瞭解「東海和平倡議」的精神與價值，持續以理性友好的和平對話方式處理爭端，避免升高區域緊張情勢，共同為區域的和平與穩定作出具體貢獻。
