Jason Kidd打翻那杯價值5萬美元的飲料，看在其他隊總教練眼裡，什麼感想？「好貴！」火箭隊教頭Kevin McHale笑著說。

這件事傳到Kidd耳裡，他也笑了：「真的，好貴。」這位「菜鳥教頭」在湖人、籃網之戰最後8.3秒，沒有暫停可叫時，示意子弟兵Tyshawn Taylor撞上來，打翻手中飲料，藉此賺到暫停，卻被聯盟罰款5萬美元。

Kidd從哪裡學到這一招？「我從其他教頭、老闆那裡聽到的，他們會告訴我，以前是怎麼做的。」

這個賺到的暫停，籃網隊設計最後一擊，交由Paul Pierce投三分球，結果沒進，還得繳罰款，Kidd賠了夫人又折兵。

「我希望能贏，」Kidd說，「於是我透過那種方法，設計戰術讓球員獲取有利出手位置，球員確實找到好的出手機會。我不該做這樣的事情，被聯盟罰了，但我們會走出這件事的。」
