肯亞政府今天(22日)表示，奈洛比西門(Westgate)購物中心發生恐怖攻擊後，目前仍有為數不明的人質被伊斯蘭槍手挾持於購物中心內。目前肯亞安全部隊與槍手仍在購物中心對峙。肯亞政府全國災難運作中心(National Disaster Operation Centre)最新的推特資訊中說，「人質數目仍不清楚，他們分佈在好幾個不同的地點。目前尚無任何通訊。(購物中心)高樓層已經被封鎖。」

與蓋達組織(Al-Qaeda)掛鉤的索馬利亞激進團體青年黨(Shebab)宣稱犯下此案。這起攻擊事件已造成至少39人喪生、超過150人受傷。
