雖然之傳出 Apple 從代工廠收到大批「機上盒」貨物。不過根據 AllThingD 的報導指出，Apple 在下週的發表會中不會發表新的 Apple TV 產品，只會更新軟體。

在新的 Apple TV 軟體中，Apple 之前已經表示會加入 iTunes Radio 功能。不過台灣使用者想使用 iTunes Radio 的話，可能必須具備美國 Apple ID 才有辦法收聽。而 Apple 也在今夏為 Apple TV 加入 Disney 和 HBO 等頻道，不過多數都只能在美國 Apple ID 下看到。

而目前傳出正在開發的另一個功能讓是使用者能夠透過 AirPlay 和 Apple 伺服器，在任何 Apple TV 播放在 iTunes Store 中購買的商品，而不需登入 Apple ID 或是下載檔案。也就是說使用者可以在 iTunes Store 中購買一部電影後，直接從 iPhone 或 iPad 上，告訴任何 Apple TV 開始串流電影，而不需在 Apple TV 上登入 Apple ID 或是下載電影到 iOS 裝置上。
